Learn how to fix your car at About.com

About.com Auto RepairMaybe you just don’t have the money for extensive repairs or another car. Matthew Wright, the About.com Guide to auto repair, promotes “automotive empowerment,” that is, learning about your car so you can either fix it yourself or understand what repairs are necessary to save money and avoid “upselling.” Wright explains life lessons that you should have learned from your dad: how to check the oil and tire pressure and do other routine maintenance. He offers simple fixes that can save money and aggravation, like tightening a muffler bolt or replacing a broken exhaust hanger. He gets into hairier projects, too, such as changing your own fuel tank and replacing a brake line.
